Toolmetrics Engineers manufactures nylon components to customer drawings from Hyderabad — guide and wear blocks, gears, sprockets, star wheels and elevator buckets in nylon PA6, PA66 and cast nylon. What nylon is the right material for
PA6 combines wear resistance with quiet running against steel, and that combination is the reason it displaces metal guides in conveying equipment. A guide and wear block steers moving product or chain along a defined track while sacrificing its own surface instead of the machine’s — the part is meant to wear, and nylon wears slowly and quietly while doing it.
On that block the radiused track is the functional surface, so its form and the mounting-hole positions are the critical features. Get the track profile right and the chain runs where it should; get the hole pattern right and a worn block is replaced without re-drilling the frame around it.
Nylon also takes toughness into positions where acetal would be too brittle. In gears, sprockets and star wheels, nylon adds toughness and quiet mesh against steel partners, which matters on conveyor drives that start under load and run near people.
Nylon gears, sprockets and star wheels
Nylon and acetal gears, sprockets and star wheels drive conveyors and transmit power where metal gearing would be noisy, need lubrication, or corrode — food processing and material handling being the classic cases. Removing the lubricant from a drive near product is often the whole reason a polymer gear is specified.
The keyed bore must fit your shaft and the tooth form must mesh with the existing drive, so both are treated as critical features and verified against the drawing or the sample being replaced. A gear that meshes correctly but will not seat on the shaft is as unusable as one that does neither.
We machine and mould these depending on the part and the quantity. Where a toothed form is needed in repeat quantity, moulding reproduces it identically each cycle; where a one-off or a modified tooth form is needed, machining is the faster route to a working part.
Nylon in elevator buckets and replacement parts
Elevator buckets are injection moulded in food-grade polymers including nylon, for the vertical legs that move grain, flour and feed through mills, feed plants and silo installations rated from 50 to 300 TPH. The deep-formed cup sets carrying capacity and the reinforced lip is what survives digging into the product column at the boot.
Whether a bucket is specified in nylon or HDPE is a service decision rather than a preference — it follows the product being handled, the abrasion at the boot and the cleaning regime on the line.
For any nylon replacement part, the twin bolt holes or the keyed bore must match what is already installed, so a changeover is bolt-off, bolt-on rather than a fitting job. If you are replacing an existing part and have no drawing, a sample with dimensions and photographs is a workable starting point.

- Which nylon grades do you work in?
- Nylon PA6 and PA66, and cast nylon. Other engineering plastics including UHMWPE, HDPE, PTFE and PEEK can be arranged against your requirement.
- Do you machine or mould nylon parts?
- Both, depending on what the part needs. A toothed form wanted in repeat quantity is better moulded; a one-off or a modified profile is usually faster machined. We confirm the process at the review stage.
- Why choose nylon over acetal for a gear?
- Nylon adds toughness and quiet mesh against steel partners, which suits drives that start under load. Acetal holds tooth dimensions with lower friction. The choice follows the drive, not a preference.
- Can you match our existing keyed bore and tooth form?
- Yes. The keyed bore must fit your shaft and the tooth form must mesh with the existing drive, so both are treated as critical features and verified against the drawing or the sample being replaced.
- Can you supply nylon parts without a drawing?
- Usually yes. A sample with dimensions and photographs is a workable starting point — we confirm the grade and the critical features before producing anything.
